About

Hi, thanks for visiting my site. You are most welcome.

Interested in people and systems, which involves looking at how people work together and how they respond to the organisations and systems that bring them together, my lifelong (and ongoing learning) has been developed by working in different sectors, different types of organisations–both professional and voluntary–as well as from being a mum and grandmother.

I firmly believe in kindness and compassion in all settings with healthy people and healthy systems. Self kindness and compassion lead to extending the same to others to create the conditions for high performance. These qualities are limitless and bring personal fulfilment as well as professional fulfilment.

My professional life began with over 15 years with a UK retail bank, initially specialising in corporate lending, then I went into operations management and latterly I was Head of Community Investment. The next 15 years were spent with an international educational charity, Common Purpose, developing leaders from all sectors and backgrounds through experiential learning. For the first five years my focus was on cities, the next five years my focus was on partnership development and leadership, in the last five years I led the establishment of customised work, both in the UK and internationally.  I was a member of the senior management team.

My experience has been built through direct management and leadership experience in the private and not-for-profit sectors. Areas of specialism have included retail and corporate banking, operations management, leadership development, partnership development, business and organisation development.
Based in the Peak District of the UK I have worked at home, in Europe, Asia and the US.

After my two sons had grown up and left home, storytelling called me, so I studied to be a professional storyteller at the International School of Storytelling. Adding the tools and techniques to my repertoire.

I currently commit half my time to a fabulous global consultancy, Future Considerations. We design and deliver tailored programmes to develop leaders, teams and organisations, using deep-reaching techniques to achieve transformational, individual and systemic change.

Another interest is to devote around 2 days a month to the emergent consultancy, Mistral Associates, helping small businesses to be more successful through accessing affordable, high quality consultancy.

As a freelance practitioner my work includes individual and group coaching, leadership development, and team building. I have called my practice “Adding Human Essence” because I firmly believe that it is only through accepting that human beings are emotional, instinctive people and not automatons, that we can be the best that we can be.

In recent years, I have developed my own mindfulness practice, trained as a mindfulness teacher. I facilitate an informal weekly mindfulness group in my locality and have co-facilitated several Mindful Self Compassion (MSC) courses with my good friend and certified MSC teacher, Shad Woolgrove. Definitely a transformational course!

My favourite pastimes include swimming, gardening, tennis, walking, socialising, cooking, dancing, storytelling and, of course, grannying.
